How severe is the food bank and soup kitchen restocking issue?
- Nationally, food banks and soup kitchens have been running low on inventories regularly. In 2008, 38 million Americans needed assistance from these charity venues. In 2009, over 45 million Americans turned to these venues for support. The 2009 Thanksgiving season saw a dramatic up tick in the number of elderly couples receiving assistance for Thanksgiving meals.
- The recent recession has witnessed an "across the board" drop off on general charitable giving.
- The project execution is straight forwardly easy to execute; a group, House of Worship, Company, can encourage participants to supply Just One Can of Food. Participants pick the size of can, the product manufacturer, the food type. Just does ONE can per participant during a drive. Once collected, donations are sent to a local food bank or soup kitchen.
- Individuals that share this "vision" of working together to create reasonable solutions for re-supplying America's food banks and soup kitchens.
- A committed effort by Americans on a community level WILL build a dramatic ripple effect across our country.
- The Operation Just One Can Project is easy to carry out at a grass root level. Operation Just One Can - a donor decides the can content weight size, the vendor or manufacturer, the food item.
